Real 'Star Wars' Death Star: No Kidding! ...a reality?

A few years back there was a design proposal to construct and build a spherical shaped structure in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) is in the Middle East region. It is a federation located in the southeast section of the Arabian Peninsula on the Persian Gulf. The UAE borders the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. It also shares sea borders with Iraq, Kuwait, Bahrain, Qatar and Iran. The UAE consists of seven states or emirates as they call it. The UAE federation are ruled by Emirs.

The designer for this structure is a Dutch architect, Rem Koolhaas. From the artist’s renderings (see below), the structure eerily looks just like the Death Star from the motion picture 'Star Wars’. Does George Lucas know about this? This proposed structure was to be approximately 35-44 floors high, mixed with a luxury hotel, offices, apartments and retail spaces along with a convention center and exhibition hall.

I believe that this design was only in the early part of the planning stages and it never went beyond that point. With today’s economy (worldwide), I’m not sure this project has the green light to proceed with construction. Plus I can’t imagine the Arabs would accept this kind of design, unless they’re fans of Star Wars.

But if this structure is ever built beware! I think that it is the real Death Star. I also think this Koolhaas guy is the Chancellor Palpatine in disguise. You remember Chancellor Palpatine in Star Wars? He’s also known as Darth Sidious, a Dark Lord of the Siths. He was the last Chancellor of the Galactic Republic and the first Emperor of the Galactic Empire

Watch out for any Siths. The Empire is ready to strike back. You’ve been warned! (lol).
