Man’s vision restored after a horse’s head butt!

Here is one of those wacky, strange, but true tale. It was reported on all the major news. It was on the internet.

This blog is for those who didn’t hear this story back in December of 2006.

The place of the incident was at the Monticello Raceway, New York. The culprit was a racehorse. The victim was an old part time security guard.

The 82 year old part time security guard is blind in his right eye.

Let’s go back in time, to the 1940s. Our main character, the security guard lost vision in his right eye when he was a young soldier. It was during WWII when some flying shrapnel hit this poor man in the right eye. He lost approximately 95% of his eyesight.  I will spare you all the gory details, but the doctors and staff could not restore the soldier’s sight and in the end he was left with the shrapnel still logged inside him.

So he continued living his life for 60+ years with only one good eye and some metal logged in his head.

Now let’s forward the story to December, 2006. At the Monticello Raceway in New York, the security guard was attempting to put on a collar on a racehorse. The racehorse for some reason decided to head butt the security guard. The horse’s head butt happened to be on the spot where his shrapnel is. After recovering from the shock of being head butted, the security guard noticed that his right eye vision was coming back. He could see!

Although his vision isn’t back 100%, at least he can see out of that right eye.

Imagine that. A horse doing what doctors couldn’t do. Maybe this horse should go to medical school.
