What’s that smell?!

Have you ever been to a restaurant with a theme? Like the Texas Roadhouse. It’s a steakhouse restaurant with a country & western theme.

Some other popular chained restaurants with a theme includes: The House of Blues (blues music), The Hard Rock Café (rock music), The Harley-Davidson Café (bikers theme), The Rainforest Café (jungle theme), Johnny Rockets (50s diner theme) and Hooters …you get the point.

Well I found one restaurant theme that tops ‘em all. This theme is very popular in Taiwan …and it’s expanding.

In the beginning, the Modern Toilet Ice Cream started out with selling ice cream. Their ice cream stood out from other ice cream shop owners because they served their ice cream in toilet-shaped cups!

But being successful with just ice cream wasn’t enough. The owners decided to expand their menu and serve food.

Today, the Modern Toilet Restaurant is a restaurant with a toilet theme. Yes, I wrote ‘toilet theme’. Just picture in your head a dining room full of people eating out of toilet bowls, and you get the yucky idea. It’s a restaurant that’s gone to the extreme. All seats are cushioned toilets (the real thing), yes toilets. All tables are sinks (with a Plexiglas/glass top). All the appetizers/entrees/desserts are served in toilet-shaped bowls. All drinks are served in urinal-shaped cups. And all the soft-served ice cream are served in toilet-shaped bowls/cups. The most popular ice cream flavor is chocolate, of course.

There are 13 locations around Taiwan now and with more locations to come, the owners seem to have this toilet theme down packed.
